The earthquake resistance of your home can be partially determined upon the year it was built. Most homes built prior to the 1980's are in need of improvements to reduce earthquake risk. Some homes built in the 1980's are also in need of earthquake improvements. Homes built in 1990 or after typically were constructed with earthquake resistive features, but not always.

The EBB program relies on adherence to the California Building Code, Appendix Chapter A3. Chapter A3 is a statewide building code that sets prescriptive standards for seismic retrofits of existing residential buildings.
