We didn't qualify for Mel's the type of work (structural and major issues) but he did answer all of my dry rot questions. We chatted for a good 30 minutes and he gave me all kinds of advice for free. I'm now armed w/ what needs to be done and what to look out for.

You can minimize the number of nights you lay awake wondering when the next big one will come by performing a seismic retrofit on your property. Mel Victor came out to my home a few days ago armed and ready to answer all my questions. The seismic retrofit business is fraught with imposters much like the aluminum siding industry of the '60s. They use fear to oversell their solutions. Mel Victor came out and explained in detail what it means to comply with both local and federal earthquake retrofit standards. The codes and standards for performing an earthquake retrofit can be interpreted differently
