He worked for a large plumbing company until 1973, when he decided to place an ad in the paper as a "moonlight" plumber. While working out of the back of his VW bug, Al soon had more work than he could handle and decided to take the business seriously.
He established Tutko Plumbing and began doing development work for track and custom homes. After a few years, the business evolved into providing primarily service and repair work, which Al finds more rewarding and satisfying - he enjoys troubleshooting and building relationships with customers.
