Our collaboration with Hoover Architecture started nearly 14 years ago. We interviewed about a dozen architects, and it was clear Kim Hoover stood out from the rest -- she understood what we wanted and didn't allow us to make bad choices. Kim isn't an architect who will nod and smile, and then design an unworkable house: she listens, advises, listens again, explains and then uses her extraordinary knowledge of current and historic design trends to create beautiful homes and building. The most importantdecision we made when building our house was choosing Kim Hoover as the architect. It was the first house we had built and we were totally naive to how many bumps there would be along the road. We found out about Hoover Architecture via Houzz where Kim had stellar reviews across the board, and she was located somewhat in the area of upstate New York where we hoped to build our home in the woods near a lake. We had travelled a couple times around Iceland and my Italian wife had lived for a time in Sweden; we loved the simplicity of the Scandinavian houses and hope to incorporate

I had worked with Kim many years ago for a project at my day care center. She was always very professional and got things done quickly. When I needed a new Certificate of Occupancy, I erroneously called a different architect because I was not sure how to get back in touch with Kim. When things started to go wrong, I finally reached out to Kim and she immediately fixed the problem. I wish I had called her at the beginning. I would have spared myself many weeks of frustration. I would not hesitate to call Kim for whatever architectural needs you have.

We wanted to work with a local architect for our addition. After meeting with several companies we chose Hoover Architecture. Kim was thoroughly professional from the initial contact to the final drawings. She was also very easy to work with, inspiring trust by being continuously responsive. She took our original concept and then worked with us to expand on it so the eventual design worked with the existing lines of our house. When an unexpected problem emerged on site at the very start of construction, she quickly adapted the drawings to the new situation. The end result is an absolutely gorgeous

Kim gave us excellent direction in what we could accomplish within our budget. Kim is easy to work with, personable, knowledgeable and completed our plans quickly. I would highly recommend using Kim if you are looking for a competent architect that is easy to work with and listens to your needs.

I met with at least 5 design professionals before choosing Kim Hoover and she was the clear choice as she was the only one who actually listened to what I was looking to accomplish, worked with my ideas and concepts (many of which were not traditional ones), added her input and creativity and manged to get everything done in a timely manner. She is more than pleasant to work with has a great sense of design and style. I cannot recommend enough and will certainly be hiring Kim again for any other projects!

Kim of Hoover Architecture is an amazing architect! She "got" our aesthetic seamlessly and made our dream home a reality (even though it was a renovation!) It has been incredible watching her design come to life. Throughout the process, she was patient with our permutations and always took the time to answer questions and give advice. She was also available during the building phase whenever the contractors had questions about the design. If you are looking for an architect in the Hudson Valley/New Paltz area, look no further. You will not be disappointed.
