Designers are trained to look at spaces differently, seeing the possibilities and overcoming challenges. Different members of the household frequently have conflicting ideas about style, taste, budget, and function.

Often, "compromise" results in less than pleasing combinations no one is very happy with. A Designer will help coordinate all these ideas into a cohesive space everyone can enjoy. Sometimes, clients are concerned the Designer is going to come in and immediately want to replace everything. A "clean slate" approach has its applications, but generally doesn't result in a space that reflects the personality of its inhabitants.
