About Us
Report
Cutting Edge Kitchens grew to become what it is today from rather humble beginnings: a cabinet guy and a side project. The owner, Ben Kalkman, was managing a cabinet-shop crew at the time and had made a few granite countertops on the side for various customers.
Natural Stone
Report
The term "granite countertops" or "stone countertops" can refer to a number of different materials, each with different characteristics and applications. Generally speaking, stone countertops fall into two categories - natural materials, and synthetic materials. Natural stone is anything that has been mined out of the ground, sliced into slabs and polished for use as a finished countertop in the home.
Quartz
Report
Quartz is the most common synthetic countertop material we handle, quartz is manufactured by combining a ground-up mineral aggregate (usually quartz and glass, hence the name) with a resin binder and pressing into a slab-shaped form to cure.
Porcelain
Report
A relative newcomer to the countertop industry, porcelain slabs are made of a furnace sintered ceramic material which has a high-detail image or pattern printed and sealed onto the surface. It is stronger and more abrasion-resistant than almost any other countertop material, as well as lighter due to being sold in a variety of thicknesses.
Basic Care & Maintenance
Report
When considering everyday maintenance for a new set of countertops, the volume of information available from different (and sometimes conflicting) sources can certainly be overwhelming. The specifics do vary a bit based on the nature of the material used, but as a general rule, be gentle and treat them like anything else you'd want to keep clean.
