After several years in the construction business building custom homes and log cabins, I decided that the hardscape field was a better fit for myself. One, I hated the heights that came with the building industry. I needed to be on the ground! Two, I still loved to build things. The covered bridges, waterfalls, streams and stone walls of New England helped to push me into the custom landscape design field.
Enter 1992, I moved back to the Charlotte area, got married to the sexiest hot mama on the planet and decided to start Fine Edge Landscape Design. The beginning was mainly softscapes and maintenance which gradually transformed into small paver projects and stone walls. The maintenance was boring. I wanted to build!
My brother, Mike, joined the team in 1995. Finally, someone to talk to. Working by yourself all day, everyday, made you start talking to yourself to ease the quiet. We educated ourselves on proper base compaction, structural stability and the varying design elements that we wanted to build.
