Y'all, I didn't even use this business and they were amazing! The issue was that I let their crew use my driveway in order to help my neighbor when he was using Southern Star. Afterwards, my driveway was left looking really awful - that red Georgia clay all over the place. I talked to Barney and THE VERY NEXT DAY, he had a crew out pressure-washing my driveway. I am blown away by the willingness to make it right and the sheer speed involved. Not 24 hours went by between my complaint and the solution. I know who I'm going to use the next time I need tree work done. These guys are beyond awesome

Southern Star Tree came out recently to remove two dead trees from my yard and trim branches over power lines and above a swing set. I was thoroughly impressed by the service I received from the moment I placed the inquiry until the last branch was off the ground.

This company engages in false advertising, utilizing a deceptive marketing practice. They send bulk, non-addressed mailers to "LOCAL CUSTOMER", stating "[We] will be doing tree work in your neighborhood in the next week or so." They don't even know to whom or where they are sending it, simply bulk batching fliers and throwing them at the USPS. How would they actually know they will be nearby?
Additionally, just like I would not hire an electrician from the next state over to drive a long ways to my house for service (and subsequently charge me for the time and the miles), I wouldn't hire a tree

We had a 3ft In diameter and almost 60ft tall Tulip Poplar that was barely 2 feet from our house and only another few feet from the property line. Weve wanted to take it down for years and finally decided to pull the trigger when Chris from Southern Star came out. He took the time to meet with us and our neighbors to go over the entire tree removal process including how we would get 60k+ pounds of wood out of a tight intown lot, and was quick to respond to all of our (many!) follow up questions and calm everyones nerves. Tree removal is not cheap. It can be dangerous and when not properly done may cause more damage than the issue to be repaired! It requires professional and knowledgeable leadership, supervision and management, as well as experienced and dedicated staff. Mine was an emergency. Southern Star Trees response immediate and most particularly Austin Reeds demeanor and integrity reassuring. Austin said

I received a very polite call from Bart @ Southern Star this morning about the review I left this weekend. He apologized and was looking for a way to make it right. We agreed that the next time I needed a tree service I would use them and they would give a discount. We won't need anything for about a year so we'll see. I agreed in the mean time to up my review from 1 to 3 stars and if they really follow through I'll make it 5. It was good of them to respond which speaks highly of the company.

We were very happy with the service we received from Southern Star. We have a line of trees in our backyard that were starting to grow over our deck. Southern Star cut 2 down and trimmed branches from several. At the end of the job it was exactly as we had envisioned. From the time we called them to the time the job was finished which included clean up was a little more than 48 hours. We will definitely use them again for any future jobs. We also would not hesitate to recommend them.
