The Highsmith Construction story begins in 1952 when Farris Highsmith constructed his first custom home on the grounds of what is now the historic Honey Horn Plantation on the north end of Hilton Head Island. Long before Hilton Head Island was nationally recognized tourist destination - even before there was a bridge connecting the island to mainland.
