At this location we had to demo an existing retaining wall and set of stairs that were deteriorating. We brought everything down to the ground, built it back up with loam and built a new retaining wall. The first layer of blocks are always crucial. You have to make sure you have base gravel, stone and piping for drainage and make sure you are level.
