Our mission is building community through gardening, education and environmental stewardship. Founded in 1942 out of the Victory Garden movement, we are THE place to go in Cincinnati to learn about gardening, sustainability, and horticulture. We are located at 2715 Reading Road on the former estate of Cornelius J. Hauck, Hauck Botanic Gardens.
Here we host classes, a horticultural library, several gardens for visitors to enjoy free of charge, the Green Learning Station and an outdoor compost classroom; the building and grounds are available for event and meeting rental.
Within the Greater Cincinnati region, we support more than 70 community and school gardens, are actively restoring 2 forests located directly adjacent to schools, and host regular educational experiences in local forests.The CGC offers these programs at no cost to participants, thanks to the generosity of our donors, private and government grants and corporate sponsorships.

Civic Garden Center Grounds
Report
The grounds of the Civic Garden Center and Hauck Botanic Gardens are free to the public so explore as Mr. Hauck intended or follow some of our guided maps. The Peggy MacNeale Daffodil Collection includes many Narcissus selections, both heirloom and new. It is named in honor of the original director of the Civic Garden Center.
Hoffman Library

The Hoffman Library is one of four horticultural libraries in Ohio with over 2600 books, and free gardening catalogs. This tranquil space is ideal for relaxing and observing the garden beyond the picture windows. The Hoffman Library is proud to offer some of the best-loved books for children on the topic of gardening as well as new ones about composting, bugs, and other subjects intended to encourage children to enjoy all the garden has to offer.

For nearly 40 years CGC has been working with neighborhood residents and community-based organizations to create community gardens as well as providing technical support and advanced training in growing fruits and vegetables using organic practices. Our goal is to not only to start community gardens but to provide ongoing support so they will be sustainable and thrive into the future.
