Maurice A. Forde founded Forde Windows & Remodeling in 1987 after working as a carpenter and subcontractor for years and deciding to start his own company. Maurice manages the entire Forde team, and is involved in every project. He is also a National Certified Remodeler (CR) and a National Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR).

Counterspace is critical. Much of your prep work will be done on the counters. Ideally, you will have at least 36 inches of space to the right and 30 inches to the left of the range and sink if possible. Separate your tall refrigerator and built-in wall oven. It is tempting to put these together, especially since items can go straight from the fridge into the oven.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 250,000 children have unhealthy levels of lead in their blood. This is due to lead exposure found in paint in homes built before 1978. If you are remodeling a home with lead paint, you should hire an EPA Lead-Safe Certified firm.
