Landscape Design
Our landscape design process begins with in-person consultations to understand your vision and property requirements. We create customized plans addressing curb appeal, drainage solutions, and hardscape integration while maintaining mountain aesthetics. With 39 years of local experience, we ensure designs balance functionality with environmental harmony through strategic plant selection and terrain adaptation.
Tree Care
As Certified Arborists, we provide comprehensive tree care including health assessments, disease treatment, and transplanting services. Our expertise prevents construction-related tree damage and restores existing tree vitality. We maintain a stock of mature native trees for immediate installation, ensuring climate-adapted solutions that enhance property value and ecological sustainability through proper planting techniques.
Hardscapes
Our hardscape construction creates functional outdoor living spaces using durable materials tailored to mountain environments. Services include interlocking paver installations, retaining wall construction, and natural stone features that prevent soil erosion while enhancing aesthetics. We design walkways, patios, and conversation areas that complement landscape architecture and improve property usability through expert grading and material selection.
Irrigation Systems
We install water-efficient irrigation systems optimized for Big Bear's climate conditions. Our designs incorporate soil analysis and moisture monitoring to minimize waste while maintaining plant health. The systems integrate seamlessly with landscape features, supporting sustainable water use through targeted delivery methods that adapt to seasonal variations and terrain-specific drainage requirements.
Plant Nursery
Our on-site nursery offers a curated selection of native plants, trees, and landscaping materials specifically adapted to local growing conditions. Clients can browse mature specimen trees, flowering plants, and decorative boulders to ensure project-specific needs are met. This inventory guarantees climate-resilient plantings that establish quickly, reducing maintenance requirements while preserving the region's natural ecological character.

We cannot say enough great things about Marty and his team at Nativescapes. We hired his team to completely reimagine our front, back and side yards at our cabin in Big Bear Lake. What a fun project! We went for everything - landscaping, hardscaping, lighting, recreation, garden art, and of course trees, plants, and more trees. We have young children and Marty had great ideas for ways to incorporate play areas for them. It was a highlight of our 2020 year to see the finished product. Marty's years of experience and knowledge are apparent and it is clear that he loves what he does, and he keeps

Marty and his team did a great job planting large trees, shrubs, and adding irrigation to my Big Bear house. Have a trained arborist guide you through what to plant in the mountain areas was very useful. I found Nativescapes to be very honest and had fair prices. Good people and good service.

We have a cabin in Moonridge and hired Nativescapes to landscape our 13,000 square foot lot. We told Marty exactly what we wanted, and he created a simple half page contract listing our requests in line by line format. He indicated the job would take 2 days to complete. At 8:00 AM of the first day, three trucks and four landscapers converged on our property. By 4:30 the next day, the job was complete, perfectly and on time. We are very pleased with the materials used, the kindness and courtesy of the employees, and how flexible and accommodating they were when we changed the plans a bit. We
