Services
Rug Cleaning
Our rug cleaning process begins with a thorough inspection to determine fiber type, origin, and pre-existing conditions. We conduct dye migration tests to ensure colorfastness, followed by gentle hand-washing with pH-neutral solutions tailored to each rug. After dusting and drying, rugs are groomed to restore texture and appearance. This meticulous approach preserves the integrity of antiques, silks, and collectibles while removing deep-seated dirt and stains.
Rug Repairs
We specialize in stabilizing frayed edges, reweaving damaged areas, and archival wrapping for long-term preservation. Our repairs address moth damage, unraveling, and structural weaknesses using traditional techniques that match the rug's original craftsmanship. Each repair is performed manually to maintain the rug's authenticity and value, ensuring seamless integration with existing patterns and fibers.
Rug Pads
We offer DuraholdPlus rug pads, the only patented option guaranteed for 10 years. These non-slip pads protect floors, prevent bunching, and enhance comfort underfoot. The 1/4-inch thickness provides cushioning while maintaining stability for runners and large area rugs, extending the life of both the rug and underlying surfaces.
Emergency Services
We address urgent situations like spills, water damage, and moth infestations to prevent permanent harm. Immediate action is taken to blot spills, extract water, and neutralize biological substances. Our team provides guidance for temporary care and prioritizes emergency cases to minimize staining, dye migration, and structural degradation.
Pickup & Delivery
Complimentary pickup and delivery services cover Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay, and the San Francisco Bay Area. This convenience ensures clients can access expert care without transportation concerns, particularly for large or delicate rugs requiring professional handling.

I had an old rug that I thought was pretty much gone. I took it to Artisan and they got all the stains out and it looked like it had came back to life. I also took a smaller (cheap) inexpensive rug there and it was treated the same way. Aaron is easy to work with. He is also like a walking encyclopedia of rug history. Thank you Artisan!!!

We had a very nice antique rug. We took it somewhere else and they said they couldn't clean it because it wouldn't go through there process well. Then I heard about Artisan from a friend and took it there. Aaron (owner, operator), did an amazing job and did everything by hand. The rug came out bright, softer and clean. Take your rugs here if you value them!
