The Water Works Board of the Town of Parrish was formed in 1958, as a nonprofit municipal corporation, to serve the residents of the Town of Parrish with safe drinking water. At this time the system served approximately 250 customers. In 1991, the Board took over the operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection and treatment systems for the Town of Parrish and was renamed Parrish Water Works and Sewer Board.
Today the Board serves approximately 2050 water customers with 135 miles of transmission lines inside Parrish and surrounding areas of south Walker County. Water is purchased through a purchase contract with Jasper Water Works and Sewer Board. The Laye-Williams Water Treatment Plant, located on the Mulberry Fork of the Warrior River, provides surface water treatment.
Parrish Water Works and Sewer Board utilize three pumping stations and three water storage tanks with a combined storage capacity of 1,000,000 Gallons. The average consumption is 450,000 gallons per day. Through our present purchase agreement we have an additional 380,000 gallons per day available for future growth and expansion.
