Stone
Report
Granite is formed when its grains are exposed to extreme heat and then cooled slowly. This slow cooling process causes granite's minerals to "grow" together, forming a tight bond. This makes the stone extremely hard and durable. It also causes the stone's surface to polish well and allows it to resist cracking, weathering and heat.
Marble
Report
Marble is technically not a conventional stone, but rather a recrystallized form of calcite, which comes from limestone or dolomite. As marble recrystallizes, it leaves behind any fossils or impurities from the original stone, making marble remarkably clear and pure. These properties let light penetrate the stone's surface, creating a beautiful, glowing translucency that plays off its subtle swirling tones.
Limestone
Report
Unlike quartz, marble and granite, limestone is formed by the same material that ocean-dwelling creatures like oysters, mussels, coral and clams use to create their shells and bones. If you've ever seen the subtle luminescence of a beached shell, you know the beauty of limestone already! Now you can enjoy that same soft, warm glow in your home with House of Stone, LLC's limestone installation options.
Quartz
Report
Quartz is the hardest nonprecious stone on the planet, offering your countertops unmatched durability, and resistance to heat and scratches. Quartz is formed in rigid hexagonal or trigonal shapes, creating an extremely tough mineral that also provides prismatic shine and beauty.
