San Mateo Garden Center: Community Garden & Event Venue
Since 1975, we have been a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to fostering community through horticulture and education. Our mission centers on promoting gardening knowledge, preserving green spaces, and providing accessible venues for public and private events. Managed entirely by volunteers, we collaborate with local clubs and the City of San Mateo to maintain 5 acres of gardens and facilities, including meeting spaces and a propagation shop. Our programs emphasize sustainability, floral design, and environmental stewardship, serving as a hub for over a dozen specialized groups. With a rich history of community collaboration, we continue to offer educational workshops, plant sales, and event rentals in a serene garden setting.
