Star Building Materials is a family owned and operated business that started out in 1972 as a part-time used building materials business. Hershell and Nancy Freeman started the company and called it Star Used Building Materials. They let their 3 small children name the business. Since the children just happened to have a pony whose name was Star, they obviously thought this was the perfect name.
