Septic System Pumping

D.F. Clark, Inc. provides pumping services to residence in the North Shore area. Pumping your septic system too often is not good for your septic system or your wallet. You should be pumping your system when the scum and sludge layers are equal to 1/3 the overall liquid depth of your tank (see the Frequently Asked Questions page for more information).

Being that your onsite sewage system is a significant investment, I am sure that you would want to protect it. Septic system maintenance consists of having a qualified professional, pump out your septic tank or cesspool as needed, as well as perform an overall assessment of your tank structure.

Once you have a septic design plan you can obtain proposals from Licensed Septic Installers working in your town. I would suggest contacting your Board of Health office for a list of license installers for your town.
Dos and Don'ts

Do learn the location of your septic tank and drainfield. Keep a sketch of it handy with your maintenance records for service visits. Do have your septic tank system inspected annually. Do have your septic tank pumped out regularly by a licensed contractor. Do keep your septic tank cover accessible for inspections and pumpings.
