Ants
Report
Ants are one of the most common pests found in and around homes in Minnesota. Most common ants found invading homes in Minnesota include carpenter ants, cornfield ants, pharaoh ants pavement ants, and thief ants. Species vary in size and color and differences in the antenna, head, thorax, petiole and abdomen allow for identification of individual ant species.
Asian Beetles

The multi colored Asian beetle is native to Asia but has become widespread in the United States. In Minnesota they are both a beneficial insect eating aphids, scale and other soft bodied arthropods that attack farmer's crops, and a major fall invading pest overwintering in homes and other buildings often in very large numbers.
Box Elder Bugs

Boxelder bugs are about a inch long and will be found near boxelder trees or maple trees. Boxelder bugs hibernate in the winter and live about one year. They cause little to no damage but become a pest when they invade homes in the fall often in large numbers. Treatments for boxelder bugs should be made in late august or early to mid-September before they gain entry into the home.
Centipedes

There are over 8000 species of centipedes found throughout the world. The house centipede being the most common popping up in bathrooms and basements across Minnesota. Centipedes name means 100 legs depending on the species they have as few as 15 pairs of legs or as many as 171 pairs. Centipedes will always have an odd number of leg pairs.
