In 2001, Smart & Handy started as a handyman service and, in response to our clients' needs for help with larger projects, we have expanded to include general contractor (GC) services. We are proudly certified as Certified Aging in Place Specialists (CAPS), using universal design techniques. We serve all of Orange County and surrounding counties and will work on residential, commercial and industrial properties.

Our philosophy is to use a professional, "common-sense" approach to every job we take on. Dave Gould, Smart & Handy's owner, grew up in the business world and made sure to learn all he could.

When we started Smart & Handy and spoke to our new clients, we found that their major complaints about past work involved a lack of customer service and employees not listening to the clients' needs. With that in mind, we made it a company priority to give the best customer service possible, and to always listen to our clients and put their needs first.
Universal Design

Universal Design/Build expands on the standard CAPS training by shifting the focus from specific modifications that meet the needs of one person or household to universal techniques that can be integrated into all residential construction projects. Designing homes that are both functional and attractive for the aging-in-place is one of our specialties.

Mold removal and lead removal are not part of our handyman/general contractor services. However, should you require mold or lead removal at your home or office, we will be happy to refer you to one of our trusted partners with that specialty. Simply put, our specialty is taking care of your home and everything in it.
