Mendocino Solar Service
Unlike out-of-state companies, we don't send you an online quote from hundreds of miles away. We meet you in person, visit your property, and design a system just for you. From rebate reservation to obtaining building permits and PG&E interconnection, we navigate the red tape so you don't have to.

We supply an owner's manual, system orientation, and performance follow-up so you understand your new solar electric system and know how to care for it for years to come. For more than 25 years, Mendocino Solar Service has helped homeowners make the switch to clean, green, financially rewarding solar energy.

We serve Mendocino County exclusively. Our team has installed more than 400 solar energy systems countywide, including installations on the Mendocino Coast, Anderson Valley, the South Coast and the Inland Valley. Mendocino Solar Service was also the first to gain approval to install a carefully designed, subtle and effective residential solar system in the historic town of Mendocino.

There are major advantages to keeping your connection to the utility. With a grid-tied system there is no need for batteries-the grid is there to provide power when the sun goes down. You can still "zero out" your electrical use on an annual basis. The system is less costly and easier to install. No system management is required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Report
The most important considerations for a potential site are orientation and shading. Typically panels are mounted on the roof. So, your roof should be free from shading by trees, nearby buildings, and other obstructions. It is best to have no shading between 10 am and 6 pm - the peak solar hours. Skylights, chimneys, stovepipes, and roof vents can limit the area available on the roof.
