If you own a fireplace, chimney maintenance should not be optional. Carbon monoxide, deadly fires, poisoning, and expensive chimney repairs are only some of the more serious consequences associated with neglected chimney maintenance. As fire burns, smoke goes up the chimney. Some of that smoke condenses into creosote in the flue, the inner surface of the chimney.

Creosote, a hard tar-like substance, builds up over time. When a thick coat of creosote catches fire, you get a chimney fire, a powerful and frightening inferno that can be as loud as a low flying jet. Most of the creosote build-up occurs when the fire is first lit. A cold chimney causes much more smoke to condense on the chimney flue.

Therefore, a continuous fire will usually foul a chimney slower than many separate fires. Chimney fires are often so hot that nearby walls and rafters burst into flames. The fire spreads so fast that firefighters often arrive too late to save any of the home. The extremely high temperatures associated with chimney fires cause cracks to form in the flue and chimney.

We are a small family owned business that began our "Pioneer Trail" to the Pacific Northwest 8 years ago. My wife and I are both volunteers in our community. We have lived abroad in some exotic places like Culebra, Vieques, Puerto Rico and Anguilla. Also, we love to travel and have found it a delight to meet up with ones from various cultures and backgrounds.

Our company guarantees that we will take every precaution to insure the safety and cleanliness of your home from the time we enter until the time we leave. Tarps are utilized to the fullest. Our vacuums are also well maintained so filters are never clogged to prevent clean air flow into ones home. If used regularly it's good to have the chimney cleaned at least every 6-12 months (more often if one has used green wood).

Chimney sweeps use long rods with a heavy metal bristle structure around the tip; it sort of looks like a giant bottle brush. We lay down a drop cloth or plastic to protect your home, use a shop-vac to keep dust levels down, and wear a mask and goggles in order to keep dust and debris out of our eyes and nose.
